Shiro Cosmetics Intertubes- Vegan Tubes of Win Review/Swatches

Every time Shiro releases something new I think so myself, "What will Caitlin think of next?" Just when I thought the company couldn't get any cooler, "Intertubes" appeared. Basically it is a collection of lip colors that are named and inspired by internet memes. Rickrolled, Longcat, Numa Numa are some examples. In my opinion, the idea is totally hilarious and unique. I love it. Honestly I was a little surprised there wasn't a "Mudkip" one! I purchased two within an hour of the release because I just couldn't resist.
I bought "Over 9000" and "Sad Keanu (purple, duh) and received samples of "Three Wolf Moon," "Yo Dawg," and "Robe and Wizard Hat."

I think the packaging is adorable. I love these tubes, they are very similar to the Latherati ones, only clear instead of black. The labels are waterproof as well, which is nice. They all have a cute little picture on the front that has to do with the meme. I love the Over 9000 one! I didn't watch much Dragonball Z as a kid, but I'm familiar with the meme. "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND!!!!!"
These are all vegan, which is nice since a lot of people are vegan these days. Personally, that type of thing doesn't matter to me, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Now onto the swatches. A couple of these didn't turn out looking quite like they do IRL, but I'll do my best to describe them as accurately as I can.Over 9000. This one is actually my favorite of the bunch. The color looks really good on me and it lasts forever. This one actually acts more like a stain, because the pink stays put on your lips long after the balm has worn off. It's a bit darker than it appears here. It has a light grapefruit scent that I love.

Sad Keanu. (It'd be hilarious to see a "Strutting Leo" one in the future! hehe) I had to get this one, purples always call to me! I had kind of a hard time getting an even application with this one, but it's totally worth it. The color is gorgeous! It's a perfect balance of blue and red tones, which is really hard to find. It looks more pink in the photo than it is, this one actually IS purple! I did notice this one stains too, but not as much as Over 9000. The scent is blackberry.

Please excuse the bad application on these next three. These are the ones in the pots, and since I don't have a lip brush I have to apply them with my finger.
Yo Dawg. "Yo dawg, I heard you like tv's so I put a tv in your tv so you can watch tv while you watch tv!" This one is similar in color to Over 9000, but much more sheer. It is, however, easily built up, which I like. The color just did not want to show up in pictures for some reason. It's actually a light fuschia-pink shade. The listing states that this is raspberry scented, but I didn't notice any scent.

Robe and Wizard Hat. Wow! For some reason I was not expecting much from this one, but it's gorgeous! The color reminds me of Morgana's "Turquoise" only without the pearly finish. It's easily built up to opaque, and the blueberry scent is yummy. This one does stain quite a bit, though, which can be a problem with blues. They can make you look like you're frozen, but I can't say if this one does that because I haven't worn it on my lips long enough.

Three Wolf Moon. Funny story, I bought this shirt (at Goodwill for $1!) the day I received these, but BEFORE I got home so I didn't even know. It was meant to be. And good thing too, because I love it! This is another one that didn't want to photograph accurately. For some reason it almost looks peach here, but it's actually a really pretty semi-sheer dark red that is also easily built up to opaque. This one has a cinnamon scent. Smells just like Big Red gum! The scent on this one is the most noticeable of the ones I have so if you're sensitive to smells, be aware of that. This one stains, but it's a lovely stain.

Now, THESE swatches are much more color-accurate. Just pretend these colors are on my lips, if you can. XD

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with these. They're very moisturizing(think Chapstick) and the color payoff is great. I think the "meme" theme is hilarious. I sort of can't stand when companies take themselves too seriously, so it makes me happy to see things like this. I would definitely buy these again. In fact, I hope to get Leeeerooooyyyy Jenkinssss when she opens her shop back up! The little picture on the front of that one is a bucket of chicken, which is just perfect.
You can get these from Shiro's etsy shop for $6.50 each. They are offered individually, but there is an option to buy the whole set or choose five.

I hope this review was helpful, and have a lovely evening! :)

MAC's Style Curve

It should be pretty clear by now that I'm obsessed with purple lip colors. Purple is not only my favorite color, but it's one of the very few colors that almost always looks good on me. I'm not really a MAC person, but I saw "Style Curve" on their website the other day and yesterday I just happened to be in the mall of a neighboring town that has a MAC counter. There isn't one in my mall, along with many other things. It comes with living in a small town. Anyway, I did a little swatch on my skin and even though it was more pink than purple, I liked it a lot so I went ahead and got it. See how it looks very purple in the tube but more pink on the lips? Either way, it's gorgeous. Believe it or not, this is actually my first MAC lipstick. I have a lipglass, but that's it. I just think it's over-rated and over-priced. However, I'm always willing to make exceptions for certain things.

I put this quick look together so that I could do some full-face shots with the lipstick. hai.
On my eyes I'm wearing Persephone Minerals "Princess Jupiter" (lid) and "Princess Mercury (crease). No primer, so they don't look as good as they could. Don't ever skip primer, the makeup gods will surely punish you. I love these two colors together. They brighten up your eyes so nicely.
I wouldn't really call Style Curve purple (same deal with LC's Airborne Unicorn), but it's very pretty. It's more of a fuchsia. It came from a collection that MAC just came out with and I honestly can't remember what it is. I do know that there are 3 other lipsticks (as well as other products) in bright red, pink, and orange. They definitely could have made this more purple since they already have a pink, but it's a great color nonetheless. OK, I think I've said that enough times now. :D

Have a lovely evening!

New Morgana Cryptoria Lipstick Swatches

During Black Friday weekend, Morgana Cryptoria had some really awesome sales going on. For the first hour of the sale, her new pastel lipsticks were only $5! Normally they are $9 each. I jumped right on that and also got two other lipsticks I'd been eying. I won't lie, I just got these in today, but I couldn't wait. Especially for the pastels.

I know lip swatches always seem kind of awkward(especially since I have a hideous chipped tooth that I NEVER notice until I see pictures of myself), but I think swatching them on your hand is less effective for showing what they look like so I did it anyway.

Sangria:I will probably wear this a lot. It looks quite a bit brighter in this photo than it actually is, though. That's not a bad thing, it's a really "wearable" color and I can see it working well for lots of different skin tones.

Wisteria:I LOVE this. Pearly pale pale lilac. It's surprisingly subtle, and really frosty. This looks great on it's own, and I bet it would be good for layering. It's not as purple as I thought it would be, but it's still nice. This is one of the brand new pastel colors from Morgana.

Icy Mint:OK, I have absolutely no idea when I'll be able to wear this, but I couldn't resist! Look at that awesome color! It actually smells and feels minty too. I'm going to have to think of a neat way to use this for a photoshoot.

Otherworldly:Last but not least. This is my FAVORITE of the bunch. THIS, my friends, is the cool-toned purple I've been looking for. Get ready to see this on me A LOT.

As with all the Morgana lipsticks, these are very firm in the tube, but smoooooooooth on your lips. I love the packaging for the pastels, because you can see the color in the bottom since the tubes are clear.
Has anyone else tried the pastel lipsticks yet? Or Morgana lipsticks in general? Otherworldy is my new favorite!

Have a lovely afternoon/evening! :D

I Need Suggestions! The Perfect Purple Lipstick

OKAY I am on the hunt for the perfect purple lipstick. Ever since Halloween when I couldn't find any purples in Walmart, I've made it my mission to find a perfect one.
I do have Morgana's "Shrieking Violet" and I like it, but it's not really the color I'm looking for. I'm looking for a medium purple, not light and not super dark or sparkly. Blue-toned purple, not red. Think Triana from Venture Brothers (who is pretty much a cartoon me, btw)

I've looked at Lime Crime's "Airborne Unicorn" (don't even say anything, I could care less about that drama) and MAC's "Cyber." Airborne Unicorn is the right shade, but too light and Cyber I can't really say because all I've seen in the online swatch. If anyone knows any good purples, please let me know!
Also keep in mind that I'm sort of poor. I don't own ANYTHING from MAC except one lipglass, if that says anything about my budget haha but I'd be willing to make an exception if it's an awesome color. Help me out!

China Glaze Zombie Zest Nail Polish and Revlon's Va Va Violet Lipstick

I went to Sally's the other day (rare for me) and saw the Halloween China Glaze colors and of course had to get one. I was there to get purple, but couldn't resist Zombie Zest! Since the theme colors of my costume are green and purple, I figured why not put them together? The result wasn't exactly how I pictured, but it's really pretty! The purple I used is China Glaze "Grape Juice."
The mixture of the two kind of looks brownish in these pictures, but it's not at all. It's sort of a dark gold but you can definitely see the green glitter from Zombie Zest. I love it!

I was on the hunt for some purple lipstick as well. (This is all for my Halloween costume.) I would have just ordered from Fyrinnae or Morgana, but I waited too late and wouldn't have gotten it in time so I was just looking in Walmart. I had no idea how hard it is to find a purple lipstick! Browns, plums, pinks, and reds. That's it! The closest thing to a true purple I could find was Revlon Va Va Violet.

Looks red to me! It's a really lovely color and I don't regret getting it, especially for just $5, but it doesn't look like it does in the tube. I was expecting a really dark purple. Oh well. I'm thinking of mixing it with Morgana's Serenity (blue) to get more of a true purple, we'll see how that goes.

Morgana Minerals Lipsticks + A Giveaway Opportunity

It should probably already be a known fact that I LOVE Morgana Minerals lipsticks. However, the ones I originally had (Serenity, Licorice, Shrieking Violet, and Azalea Blue) were in the lip pot form, and I am just not a fan of that. I'm terrible with a lip brush, but that may have something to do with the fact that my lip brush is actually a regular cheapo paintbrush from Walmart. Oh well. Anyway, I ordered some full sizes and received them not too long ago. They did not disappoint!
I got Gargoyle (dark gray), Turquoise(...turquoise), and Very Cherry(rich but not neon red with a little shimmer to it).

Yaayy ^-^ I took some photos to show what they look like on. I know this has been done many times before, but hey, you can never have too many swatches amirite? Okay, maybe you can but I did it anyway.

Gargoyle: This color is described as "dark gray" but I don't see it that way. To me it's more like a soft black. Obviously it appears to be black but it just isn't quite as harsh. This one smells kind of weird in the tube but, once you put it goes away once you put it on. It's unscented, so it's just the smell of the oils and such. I'm a fan of black lipstick but I hate how difficult it is so naturally I love this color.

Turquoise: I died for this color when I saw it on Scrubbing Up Well's blog. Oh my gosh. It's so unique and pretty! Also, I kind of expected it to be dry and icky since it's a weird color but it's not at all. It's creamy and wonderful just like the others. I will definitely be wearing this out in public, I'm not shy! :D

Very Cherry: If you're looking for the perfect classy red lipstick, this is it. I feel like this picture makes it look more "clown" red than it is. It's very classy looking, and there are no orange undertones at all. I want this to be called "Ruby Red" or "Ruby Slippers" or something like that because that's what it makes me think of. This is my favorite of all my MM lipsticks so far, I believe.

GIVEAWAAAY!
BLIX (Glitter is my Crack) is having a VERY generous giveaway! Check it out here and good luck!

I'm off to finish season 3 of Dexter. Have a lovely evening! :)

Black Lipstick = Evil. (Sarcasm)

Why is it that so many people have such a problem with black lipstick? Sure it's not natural looking but neither is red lipstick, or purple eyeshadow. Black looks good on everyone and the same goes for make up, INCLUDING lipstick. I love it. I think it looks elegant.

Eyes:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Glamour Doll Eyes - "Family Secret" all over lid
Kryolan "Oil Slick Black" as an eyeliner all the way around my eye

Lips:
EOS Lip Balm
Morgana Minerals vegan lipstick in "Licorice" (I LOVE these lipsticks, try them ASAP)

Wearing black (or any dark color) on your lips shouldn't automatically make you a "goth." Don't stereotype! Wear what you like, be open minded!
