Turkey Day LOTD Using Shiro and GDE

Oh, Thanksgiving break, how I love you so. I'm proud of myself for actually taking the time to do a look today. And it's neutral. Weeeird, right? Well, it's sort of neutral. It's very much a fall look, so I thought it would be appropriate for Thanksgiving.

Eyes:
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-Shiro Cosmetics "S.S. Anne" all over main lid
-Glamour Doll Eyes "Just Bitten" on the outer V
-Nameless shimmery white from one of the Wet n Wild palettes on browbone
-Maybelline "Big" Great Lash black mascara

Lips:
-Morgana Cryptoria "Roses and Violets"

Cheeks:
-Clinique blush in "Smoldering Plum" (even though you can't ever see it in my photos, it's actually a really lovely blush)

I feel like I've done a look very, very similar to this in the past. I really like S.S. Anne. It's one of the few browns that I really love. Roses and Violets is also a very pretty "normal" lipstick from Morgana. I only have a sample of it, but I think if I had a full size I would wear it all the time.

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I hope you didn't eat as much as I did... brb, going into turkey coma.

Stormy Silver and Pink EOTD Using Glamour Doll Eyes

Yesterday was Caleb's 22nd birthday and we went to get sushi with some of his friends and his parents. I dressed up really cute and I have no idea why I didn't take a picture of my outfit. Oh well, at least I got my makeup. However, these pictures were taken after I got home so it probably doesn't look as fresh as it could. I used all Glamour Doll Eyes for this look, but it wasn't really on purpose, just kinda happened.

What I Used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Glamour Doll Eyes "Premonition" in the outer corner/crease
Glamour Doll Eyes "Pistol Pistol" in the center of lid
Glamour Doll Eyes "Dear Mom" on inner corner and lower lashline
Maybelline liquid black eyeliner on upper lashline
Maybelline Falsies black mascara
NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Black Bean on waterline

I lovvvve all three of the GDE shadows I used. Premonition is an amazing crease color. I can't decide if it's purple, blue, or gray. Pistol Pistol is amazing as well. I love silvers and this one is really pigmented and easy to apply. Dear Mom is the cutest bubble gummy sparkly pink ever.

Well, I'm off to observe a prehistoric art exhibit and then write a paper on how the museum presented it. Can't wait! -_-

Have a lovely Sunday!

GDE Customer Appreciation Sale Haul (swatches!)

So, remember the Glamour Doll Eyes customer appreciation sale? It was a while back, I know but I just got my order because Vee was unable to ship mine until after she got back from her vacation. She e-mailed me about it and was really sweet and I told her it was fine. If you weren't aware of the sale, they had all their full sized shadows for 50% off if you bought 8 or more ($3 a piece!) Since I had to wait, I got a free pair of false lashes! woot! Anyway, I swatched them all for you. I'm not sure which colors are popular and which ones aren't so I just did them all.

I swatched them on my leg. Feels silly, but so much easier to photograph!
I don't think I need to do color descriptions since these colors aren't new. I'm sure there are better photos and descriptions on 564645 other blogs. I would like to mention, though, that "Drag Queen" swatched weird. If it looks like a darkish blue eyeshadow with a green on top of it, that's because that's what happened. I don't know why, it looks like a lovely teal in the jar. I'm going to have to play around with that one. My favorites so far are Dear Mom, Premonition, Pistol Pistol, and Phyrra.

Eyelashes!I actually don't own any, so I was excited about this haha :D

I happen to be a big fan of GDE so I'm sure I'll love these. With that, I leave you with my laptop wallpaper. Check the WoW icon. I know, I'm cool.

Have a lovely evening!

Purple, Pink, and a Blueberry Cupcake

Today (well, actually a couple of days ago) I wanted something that would match my pink and purple checkered dress, and I hadn't worn GDE's "Unicorn" in a while so here's what I came up with.

Eyes:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Pixie Epoxy
Glamour Doll Eyes "Unicorn" on the center of the lid (Gorgeous color, I recommend this to anyone who likes girly feminine colors)
Glamour Doll Eyes "Family Secret" on inner corner and brow bone
Fyrinnae's "Shinigami" in the outer corner/crease as well as on the lower lashline
Rimmel white eyeliner
Maybelline Falsies black mascara

Glamour Doll Eyes is having an awesome 50% off sale right now, so check them out. I picked up some more colors myself.

Foundation:
Meow Cosmetics Pampered Puss mineral foundation in Frisky Persian (LOVE this stuff, btw)

Lips:
Kiehl's clear lip balm
Fyrinnae lip lustre in "Lollipop-Pop"

Later that day my mom and I got some delicious cupcakes from "Sugah Cakes." Oh my God. These things are so good they practically melt in your mouth. Seriously, if you're ever in upstate SC (though, why would you be?) you should stop by the White Rabbit and get you some Sugah Cakes cupcakes..it will complete your life. My mom got lemon and I got blueberry, though strawberry is my favorite. Yum!

I devoured it. It was delicious. :) Check out the super flattering lighting in that last picture, mmm cute. hahaha

Subtle but Colorful with Meow Cosmetics

I got some samples from Meow Cosmetics a while back that I have been meaning to mention. I was mainly looking at their mineral foundations but saw that they have about a bazillion different colors of eyeshadow so I had to get a couple samples.

I came up with this look really quickly yesterday. Aside from the white, all the colors are from Meow.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Pixie Epoxy
Meow Cosmetics "Purrfect" all over the lid (blue/purple)
Meow Cosmetics "Siren" in the crease above the blue (dark pink)
Meow Cosmetics "Fat Cat" on the lower lashline (green)
Glamour Doll Eyes "Family Secret" inner corner and brow bone
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
Rimmel white eyeliner on waterline

Looking back I think this would have looked a lot better with some black eyeliner on the top lashline, but I still think it turned out okay. Subtle but colorful. haha A lot of people are probably like "That is NOT subtle," but for me, it is. :)

Have a great night!

Glamour Doll Eyes: A Review by a Regular Person

*Please Note: This entry was imported from my Xanga account. It was originally written on July 18, 2010. All items mentioned were selected and purchased by me. Nobody asked me to write this review, or sent me anything for free.

I recently made a small order with a makeup company called Glamour Doll Eyes. I hadn't heard much about them, and what I did hear was mixed reviews. Hopefully this review will help you in deciding whether or not you want to order from this company, as these are my honest opinions.

Shipping:
I had heard that their shipping was somewhat slow, but I received my items in exactly one week. That's a really reasonable amount of time to wait in my opinion. Everything came in a bubble mailer and all the jars were inside a large Ziploc bag. There were several business cards included. Shipping is FREE for orders of just samples (which is what I did) and for orders over $30.00. You can choose your shipping method otherwise, so I don't know the exact prices.

The Stuff
:
I ordered four sample jars of eyeshadow. The sample jars are small and come with about 1 gram of product for $2.50. This is actually a pretty good deal if you ask me. You can also purchase sample baggies for $1.50 that contain 1/2 gram of product. You automatically received 2 free sample baggies of 2 random colors with your purchase, so that's pretty cool. The full size jars contain 2-2.5 grams of product (without sifter) and 1.5-2 grams of product (with sifter). It's good that you can choose to get a sifter or not, because I know a lot of people like having them. I personally think they get in the way. The full size jars are $6.00.

I got Immature (bright green but not neon), Unicorn(a pretty shimmery purple-pink color), Veteran(navy blue with red sparkles), and Family Secret(a bright shimmery white). "Family Secret" is a "Twi" shadow from a collection of shadows that are based off of the characters from Twilight. While I am not a fan of Twilight, I thought the name "Twi-shadows" was adorable and the color looked really nice. I'm pretty sure you can order the entire Twilight collection for a discounted price, as well as some other collections.

Here is a look I did using Unicorn on the lid, Immature in the outer V/crease, and Family Secret in the inner corner. Immature doesn't look as bright in this photo as it is in real life, it's actually a really lovely bright green.

For this one I used Unicorn on the lid(can you tell I love this color?) and Veteran in the outer V/crease and as an eyeliner with Family Secret in the corner. Unicorn is so "me" and Family Secret is the PERFECT shimmery highlight color. I absolutely love it. Veteran is also a really great color, I had been searching for a good dark blue for a while. I used a primer for both of these looks.

For my two free small sample colors I received "After Prom" which is a "pinkish purple with a slight black undertone and pink/silver sparkle," and "Behind the Scenes" which is "a metallic-ish brown with gold and bronze sparkle." Behind the Scenes isn't a color that I would order on my own but after trying it I love it! It's very true to the description.

Just testing out Behind the Scenes. I didn't use a primer this time. Even though I have no problem wearing bright colors in the middle of the day, I would say this is a very wearable color, perfect for wearing to grandma's while still being very pretty and not boring. I'm thinking of ordering the bigger size in this when my sample runs out.

Overall:
I really, really like Glamour Doll Eyes. I would definitely order from them again, and would recommend them to anyone. I think these eye shadows are really pretty and blend like a dream. They also have a fairly large selection of colors to choose from, with colors to suit any look or personality. Also, most of their shadows are vegan unless stated otherwise.
I definitely recommend this brand. I recommend getting the $2.50 sample jars! The sample sizes are so generous(even in the baggies) and if you decide to order the full size in a color you already have sample for, you can specify this and the price of the sample is subtracted so you only end up paying $3.50 if you got the jar and $4.50 if you got the baggie. Cool, right? I think that's a very nice feature. I'm all about saving money without losing quality along the way, and I definitely think GDE have quality shadows, or at least the colors I tried.

I hope this review was helpful to you. Please let me know if you have any questions! Now go try out Glamour Doll Eyes for yourself! :)

Gradient Teal Eyes

Here's a teal-ish look that I wanted to share with you all that's really easy to do and is quite "wearable." That word doesn't mean much to me as I have no problem wearing ridiculous make up, but I know a lot of you are shy :)

-Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a base.
- Morgana Minerals "Lady of the Lake" all over the center of the lid (turquoise)
-Glamour Doll Eyes "Veteran" in the outer corner/crease (navy blue)
-Glamour Doll Eyes "Family Secret" in the corner and on the brow bone (sparkly white)

After you apply those colors just a get a fluffy brush and gently blend them together. I used a damp flat brush and a matte black eyeshadow for eyeliner. I like to do this because it's not as harsh looking as liquid eyeliner.

And that's it! Super easy to do. Let me know what you think!
