The Portals LOTD using Shiro Cosmetics

I wanted to do a look from the new Science Collection from Shiro Cosmetics using blue and orange since those are the colors of the two portals in the game the collection is inspired by. "Thinking With Portals" is orange with blue sparkles and "A Neat Gun" is blue with orange sparkles, so I'm thinking these two colors were meant to represent the two portals. This is what I came up with.
Check out that hair. That's what it looks like when I do nothing to it. Not as scary as it was before I cut it, but still pretty bad. haha

Eyes:
-TFSI
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (just on the lid)
-Shiro Cosmetics "Emancipation Grid" all over crease and blended up
-Shiro Cosmetics "A Neat Gun" directly in crease and blended into Emancipation Grid
-Persephone Minerals "Ami" (just a touch) in the outer crease to darken it more
-Shiro Cosmetics "Thinking With Portals" all over main lid
-Shiro Cosmetics "I Feel Fantastic" inner corners
-Kat Von D eyeliner pen in "Trooper" (black)
-Stila eyeliner in "Blue Ribbon" on lower lashline
-Rimmel white eyeliner on waterline
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto black mascara

Lips:
-Morgana Cryptoria "Roses and Violets"

Blue and orange is not a color combination I would normally think to use, but I actually think it looks pretty good. It's very "wearable," by my standards anyway. A Neat Gun is such a pretty blue, I can see myself using this color a lot. Let me know what you think!

Have a lovely evening!

Shiro Cosmetics "Science" Collection Swatches

I was really excited when Shiro Cosmetics released the new Science collection the other day. This particular collection was inspired by the game, Portal. I've never played Portal myself, but I'm familiar with it because my boyfriend really likes it. He was tickled when I told him about this collection and even helped me pick out which colors to get.
They got here REALLY fast. I placed my order the day they were released and they shipped the very next day. I've always found that Caitlin ships really quickly and everything is always packaged really nicely. This time I even got a couple pieces of Lychee candy :3 Anyway, on to the swatches! As always, these are swatched on top of a thin layer of Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy. I recommend clicking on these to enlarge them to really get the full effect!

My favorites are Because We Can, A Neat Gun, Shall Not Be Mourned, and Huge Success. It's hard to see in the photo, but Huge Success is a very bright silver with loads of multicolored sparkles. It's really really gorgeous. Shall Not Be Mourned looks nothing like the photo on the website, it's actually a dark bronze-y gold. It's finish is different than the others in that it's not sparkly, but really silky and has kind of a pearly look to it(The finish is very similar to Ganondorf from the Legends Collection). Because We Can is VERY bright! I don't know if you can tell how bright it is in the photos, but it is, and it's gorgeous. (Phyrra, if you're reading this, I hope you got this color because I thought of you when I swatched it.)

What do you guys think? I'm impressed, but I expected no less from Shiro. Let me know what colors you like, and if you plan to try any from this collection!

I'll leave you with this, the credits song from the first Portal game. You'll see where a few of the names came from just from this :) Beware, it WILL get stuck in your head!

Have a lovely evening!

"Sunsetty....like a sunset" LOTD

Sup guys? Did you think I died? I thought I did too there for a minute. School got REALLY crazy for the last 3 weeks, but it's all over now thank GOD. Another issue I had was my skin breaking out. Not acne or anything, but I have a chronic skin condition that flares up from time to time, and I think all the stress was making it particularly bad so I wasn't wearing any makeup. Anyway, I'm back. For real. With a LOTD. It's sunsetty..like a sunset.

Eyes:
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-a mixture of Sugarpill "Flamepoint" and "Love+" in the crease (started out with Flamepoint, but it wasn't dark enough so I added some Love+)
-Persephone Minerals "Mars Crystal Power" over some Pixie Epoxy on the main lid
-Persephone Minerals "Princess Venus" on inner corners
-Persephone Minerals "Chibiusa" on lower lashline
-MAC Feline on waterline
-Kat Von D tattoo liner in "Trooper" along upper lashline
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto black mascara

Lips:
-Fyrinnae lip lustre in "Lollipop-Pop"

Man it's been a while. I've missed it, really. I think considering how long it's been since I've done any serious makeup, this looks pretty decent. Also, say goodbye to that hair. I'm chopping it off on Tuesday and putting bright red and purple highlights in it. I know I know, it's pretty long. But it's also a pain in the ass and very damaged at the ends. I was planning on waiting to come back until I'd gotten my hair done, but when I saw it'd been a whole MONTH since my last post I decided to come back asap. I missed everybody! :D

Simple Pink and Blue LOTD with Bright Lips

I actually went out last weekend. WEIRD! I usually stay home on the weekends and catch up on jewelry/homework or watch tv. I really have no life, guys, it's pretty sad. BUT, I actually did go out on Saturday so I had an excuse to dress up a little bit. Pink and blue is my favorite color combination of all time. It's pretty when it's bright, but I wanted to keep this look soft so I could wear a fun lipstick.
Yes, that's a scepter around my neck, and yes, it's ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome.

I used Persephone Minerals "Small Lady" on the lid (pink) and Persephone Minerals "Princess Mercury" on the lower lashline (blue). That's pretty much it besides the basic primer, mascara, and eyeliner. The lipstick I used is MAC's "Style Curve." It IS a pink lipstick, but it's actually a bit more purple-toned in real life than it wants to appear in photos. It looks straight up purple in the tube.

As you can see, my hair is up, which is weird for me. I never ever ever wear my hair up because I think it makes me look really boyish. The side thing works, though! All I did was pull it into a low side ponytail, then curl small pieces and loop them and pin them up. I'm not a hair person AT ALL so all I can do is easy stuff. I think this turned out pretty decent considering that.
Speaking of hair, you can say goodbye to this "brown-trying-really-hard-to-be-red" hair color. I bought some Jerome Russel Punky Color from Morgana Cryptoria a while back and it just came in. I bought Plum, Red Wine, and Vermillion and it's all going in my hair as soon as possible. I've never been one for traditional hair colors, so I'm going back to funky hair. I'll for sure post pictures whenever I do it.

Sorry for the "meh" post today, I promise I'm going to have a good one up soon of lip swatches from the 2011 Morgana Cryptoria lipsticks. Until then, have a lovely evening!

Go With the Flow EOTD

I wanted to do a look with a really sharp line instead of smokey like I usually do, and this is what I came up with. I wore this to a Queens of the Stone Age concert. I was there the entire time, but couldn't see them at all. They sounded good, but it would have been cool to actually see the stage. Being 5'1" has a lot of disadvantages. I've actually liked QotSA since about 2002, right when they first came out, so I was happy to get to go. I honestly had no idea they were as famous as they are, though, and unfortunately I'm not very familiar with their new stuff. Oh well, it was still good. If you didn't know, this look is named after what's probably their most popular song.

Eyes:
-TFSI
-Sugarpill "Bulletproof" for the outline and the inside of the wing
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy all over center and inner lid
-Moi Minerals "Galaxy" all over main lid
-Shiro Cosmetics "Articuno" inner lid/corners
-Persephone Minerals "Mercury Aqua Rhapsody" applied wet on lower lashline
-NYX "Milk" on waterline
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto black mascara
-Kat Von D tattoo liner pen

I used Clinique blush in "Smoldering Plum" on the hollows of my cheeks and Morgana Cryptoria "Wisteria" with a sheer pink gloss on top on the lips.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to show off my Whimsy Beading earrings. It seems like you're not really a beauty blogger unless you've got some Whimsy Beading jewelry. I first heard about them from Phyrra, and I've purchased from them a few times. Their stuff is gorgeous! I had these earrings custom made, but you can get them in their shop, they're called "Anna's Cotton Candy.
I highly recommend purchasing from this shop! They're really nice and super talented as you can see. I think they're having a sale going on right now where you can get 20% off with the code JOEY20. I'm not sure how long it lasts, though.

Well, I'm off to work on an Illustrator project. Joy! I'll leave you with the Queens of the Stone Age song I named this post after :)
Is it just me, or does the music video seem to be a huge metaphor for penetration? o.O

Have a lovely evening!

Really Quick Dramatic EOTD with Fyrinnae and Sugarpill

I wanted to post this look really quick. I only did one eye because I was just playing around with New Moon's Light, but it turned out pretty cool so I thought I'd share!

-NYX "Milk" as a base (since this wasn't meant to be worn very long)
-Fyrinnae "New Moon's Light" all over the main lid and winged out
-Fyrinnae "Sequined Master" patted on top of New Moon's Light
-MAC Feline black eyeliner on lower lashline and winged out just below NML
-Sugarpill "Bulletproof" all over lower lashline and blended out just a bit
-Sugarpill "Tako" as a highlight
-NYX Milk again on waterline
-Maybelline Lash Stiletto black mascara

That's it! It was actually pretty simple, but it's super dramatic. I really like this formula, with the dark black on the lower lashline and one main bright color on the lid. I've really fallen in love with Bulletproof!

Have a lovely evening!

Some Fyrinnae Swatches

A couple of weeks ago, I placed a loooong overdue Fyrinnae order. I'd been seeing lots of awesome looks and realized I had NONE of the Arcane Magic colors. That needed to change, so I placed a small order. I got three Arcane Magics(plus a free sample), and two others. These definitely did not disappoint.
All of these are swatched over Pixie Epoxy, except for New Moon's Light (because it's a matte, not compatible with PE) is over NYX Milk.

I also split them up so you can see them a little better. These are ridiculously complex colors.
This color is BRIIIIIIIGHT! Woah! I wasn't expecting it to be this bright, it looks much softer in the photo on the website. I was also expecting it to be more purple, but to me this is a vivid, royal blue. I'm not disappointed, though, because this color is freaking awesome and I don't have any others like it. It's mostly matte, but it has a little bit of a satin finish. Just a bit.

I love this one. It's a super shimmery mint green. I love mint green eyeshadow. This one reminds me a lot of "Princess Jupiter" from Persephone, only a lot sparkly-er...if that's a word.

This is what I would call a sexy eyeshadow. The color is perfect for that smokey, sultry, look and it looks AMAZING paired with black. This color is very complex, and a must have in my opinion! It looks orange on the website, but it's not at all. It's hard to describe what color it is, but to me it looks like soft reddish burgundy with gold sparks. You kind of just have to see it in person.

I love this one! It's one of the prettiest purples I've seen and it's loaded with sparkles. It looks amazing over Pixie Epoxy.

This color is not from the Arcane Magic collection (along with New Moon's Light) so it's not really that complex, but it's definitely beautiful. I love forest greens like this, not too dark or too light, and the finish on this one is perfect.

Okay, this is the color I got as a free sample. This is one of those colors that makes you say "WTF" in a good way. There are so many different colors going on here I don't even know which is the main one. At first it looks like a dark brown, but then there's a very strong green/teal sparkle, then pinks and magenta. In short, this color is "What is this I don't even." I absolutely LOVE it. I cannot wait to wear this, it's one of the most gorgeous and complex colors I've ever seen.

Well, there you have it. Did I cause you to want to go place another Fyrinnae order? Fortunately, if you're like me, I don't think you can ever have enough Fyrinnae. At just $2.00 for mini jars(which is all you really need), you really can't go wrong. I'm looking at the rest of the Arcane shades, especially Dragonmagic, Evocation, Faerie Glamour, and Sorceress. I'm hoping I can eventually have all of them, they're really impressive.

Let me know what you think of these! Have a lovely week!
